Seth MacFarlane Reveals The Origins Of His 'Star Trek' Fandom In New 'Next Generation' Documentary (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

WATCH: Seth MacFarlane Reveals The Origins Of His 'Star Trek' Fandom

Anyone who has encountered one of Seth MacFarlane's deliciously skewed creations ("Family Guy," "American Dad," "The Cleveland Show" or the movie "Ted," to name a few) is well aware that the man is a pop culture guru. Obscure references fly thick and fast in all of his productions, but MacFarlane has expressed a special affinity for geek staples "Star Wars" and "Star Trek," having appeared in two episodes of "Star Trek: Enterprise" and recently voiced his desire to bring the franchise back to TV.

So it's no surprise that producers turned to MacFarlane when creating a new documentary, “Making It So: Continuing Star Trek: The Next Generation.” The in-depth look at the making of Season 2 of "TNG" is available for the first time on the new "Next Generation" Season 2 Blu-ray being released on December 4.

HuffPost TV has an exclusive preview clip from "Making It So," featuring MacFarlane describing how he first became a fan of the legendary sci-fi series, and his initial thoughts on "The Next Generation." Our phasers are set to "geek out."

"Star Trek: The Next Generation -- The Second Season" will be available on Blu-ray on December 4.
