Rajon Rondo Suspended For Fight With Kris Humphries During Celtics-Nets Game: REPORT (VIDEO)

Rondo Hit With Suspension

Rajon Rondo was hit with a two-game suspension by the NBA after getting into a shoving match with Brooklyn's Kris Humphries that spilled into the stands on Wednesday night, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told WEEI.

Ainge said that although he thought the suspension "may be a little bit excessive," the team would not appeal to the league.

Rondo was tossed in the second quarter of Boston's 95-83 loss to Brooklyn when he went after Humphries after the Nets forward fouled Kevin Garnett under the basket. Rondo, Humphries and Gerald Wallace were ejected after a brief skirmish moved into the seats.

According to ESPN, the other participants in the fracas were facing fines from the NBA.

According to Chris Forsberg of ESPNBoston.com, Rondo spoke with the league before Thursday's practice.

"Well, I thought the play on Kevin was a malicious play, you know?" Rondo said, via ESPNBoston.com. "I got hurt last year on a similar play like that -- a guy going up in the air, defenseless, on his way down. And you know, I just, I pushed Humphries. And after that, it was a pushing war."

Following the game, referee and crew chief for the game James Capers issued a statement saying "Rondo initiated everything that proceeded the foul."
