'Weird Al: The Book' Is A Gorgeous Look At Yankovic's Life (PHOTOS)

Weird Al Shares Childhood Photos In New Book

Last week, we recommended Weird Al: The Book (Abrams Books, $29.95) in our holiday gift guide, and for good reason. The biography/archive of "Weird Al" Yankovic's musical comedy career, now in its 33rd year, gives readers an unprecedented look at Yankovic's life in photos, documents and his own words.

Penned The AV Club's Nathan Rabin with the help of Yankovic himself, the elegantly designed book is not only a comprehensive look at Weird Al's life, but it's also a tour of pop music from MTV through the YouTube age. Weird Al began his career with Michael Jackson and Madonna parodies, and continues to spoof Chamillionaire and Lady Gaga to this day. In between, we get to see Al goofing on the likes of Devo, Nirvana, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coolio. A sort of pop music Zelig, Weird Al has consistently been in the background of it all.

Part biography and part pop culture museum, Weird Al: The Book, is a treat for anyone with a soft spot for the king of parody. We've republished a few photos from the book below.
