House Tour: Shelterblack's Valerie Killeen's DIY-Chic Home (PHOTOS)

It's filled with cool one-of-a-kind goods.

We love when we come across a blogger that not only has style but also a knack for home DIYs. So, when we saw Refinery29’s house tour of Shelterblack blogger Valerie Killeen abode, we had to share.

Killeen’s Orange County home is filled with one-of-a-kind hand crafted goods that prove DIYing can still be sleek and sophisticated. For example, an entire wall in her kitchen is decked in chalk board paint and she made closet clothing racks from industrial pipes from Home Depot.

Killeen also proves that thrifting can be cool. She admits that besides for a few expensive pieces, her entire house is decorated with flea market and Craigslist finds. For example, the driftwood coffee table in her living was bought from a Las Vegas magician on Craigslist. And the fun house mirror that hangs over the couch was bought for $40 at a thrift store (she later found out it was worth a small fortune thanks to the Neal Small signature).

It’s safe to say Killeen’s home epitomizes the proper way to incorporate DIYing into your living space. Her perfect blend of decadence and found goods proves just how savvy this blogger is.
