'Santa Swimsuit Run' In Madison Raises Money For Youth Health (VIDEO)

WATCH: Runners Race In Santa Swimsuits For Charity

Although the Santa Claus of legend warms hearts by slipping into homes while wearing a cozy red snowsuit, Wisconsin do-gooders recently took on the role of St. Nick by stripping down and running through the streets.

Hundreds of racers came out for the first-ever "Santa Swimsuit Run" on Saturday in Madison, Wis., to raise funds for Run Strong Wisconsin and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Run Strong Wisconsin teaches healthful habits to underprivileged kids and JDRF aims to improve the lives of people living with Type 1 diabetes. The goal was to raise $50,000. As of Monday afternoon, the race had brought in $13,635, according to the race website.

Brave racers were treated to unseasonably warm weather Saturday, but they didn’t have to prance around for long. During the 30-minute event, decked out participants did exercises or sang Christmas carols at four different intersections, WKOW reports.
