Kristin Cavallari is coming clean and admitting once and for all that "The Hills" was fake.
Cavallari sat down with Bravo's Andy Cohen on Monday night for an episode of "Watch What Happens Live" and revealed the truth about the show that made her famous.
When Cohen asked Cavallari how fake "The Hills" was, she responded: "pretty fake." Adding, "Fake relationships, fake fights." (She never even really dated Justin Bobby!)
Cavallari, who admits she made a lot of money off the series, said she enjoyed the fictitious nature of the show. "It was fun, 'cause you're acting. And that was more fun for me."
This disclosure may not come as a surprise to "Hills" viewers. The last scene of the 2010 series finale showed the camera panning out to reveal a Hollywood set, leaving everyone questioning. "The thing is, as you saw on the end — what's real and what's fake, you don't know," cast member and Cavallari's ex, Brody Jenner, told MTV News.
This is not the first time the 25-year-old has been candid about her work. In February 2011, shortly after the finale of "The Hills," Cavallari revealed to "Access Hollywood" that they would film three days a week, complete with outfit changes and pre-set scenes. She told People magazine "nothing you see on TV is real" and that she would "never put [her] close friends or a real relationship on a show."
On Monday, Cohen also broached the subject of Lauren Conrad.
Rivals Cavallari and Conrad both starred in the original cast of MTV's "Laguna Beach" and fought for the affection of Stephen Colletti. Conrad then went on to star in "The Hills," which Cavallari joined in the middle of Season 5 to replace the Paper Crown designer.
Cohan asked Cavallari to say three nice things about Conrad, to which the new mom replied: "She is a very pretty girl... she's very successful, and we actually have had a lot of really fun nights together, so she can be a lot of fun."
The compliments stopped there, though. Cavallari admitted that her "distaste" for "The Hills" star was real. "But," she added, "we were 17 and 18, and they made it a lot worse than it was."
Cavallari, who welcomed son Camden with fiance Jay Cutler on Aug. 8, is following in Conrad's footsteps and embracing her reality-TV-star-turned-designer side with shoes for Chinese Laundry and a jewelry collection for GLAMboutique.com.
