Former child actor and "Home Improvement" star Taran Noah Smith has been convicted of driving under the influence and drug possession relating to a February arrest.

Back in February, the "Home Improvement" actor was stopped by police in Los Angeles when parked in front of a fire hydrant. Officers believed he was under the influence of marijuana and found him in possession of hash.

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged. On Tuesday, Smith pled "guilty" to to the drug possession charge and "no contest" to the DUI charge, TMZ reported. He was sentenced to a 12-hour program for the DUI, a six-month drug diversion program and three years probation.

Smith gained fame playing Tim Allen's youngest son, Mark, on the popular '90s series, which ran from 1991 to 1999. He started acting in "Home Improvement" at just 7 years old and by the time he had grown up he was ready to move on.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly last October for a "Home Improvement" reunion, Smith said, ''It was pretty exciting to leave it behind and do other things."

He went on to become an installation artist and start his own vegan food company. In 2001, Smith sued his parents for squandering the money he made as a child actor, People magazine reported.

Smith is not the only "Home Improvement" star to have issues with drugs.

In 1997, leading man Allen was arrested for DUI in Michigan with a blood alcohol level of 0.15, E! News previously reported. In the late 1970s, he served two years in federal prison for selling cocaine to an undercover cop.
