30 Days Of LGBT Holiday Giving: Give A Gift To The National Center For Transgender Equality

Note: This holiday season, in lieu of a traditional holiday gift guide, we'll be featuring a different LGBT organization each day for our "30 Days Of LGBT Giving." Check back tomorrow for a look at another incredible group that's working tirelessly on behalf of the LGBT community.

The National Center for Transgender Equality has been "dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration and empowerment" since 2003. The Washington D.C.-based national social justice organization was started by a small group of trans activists who knew they needed a consistent voice in the nation's capitol.

Through the advocacy group's outreach and educational work, policy makers have the center to turn to for expertise on transgender issues such as discrimination, health and documentation. Beyond acting as a resource, however, NCTE finds opportunities to build and strengthen its bridges with new and existing transgender groups and its allies, all in effort to create positive change for the trans community.
