HuffPost Live Associate Producer Caitlyn Becker opened up on Wednesday about being "lost in engagement" -- waiting and waiting... and waiting... to get engaged. Becker, who has been dating her boyfriend for two and a half years, lives with him, and even owns a dog with him, calls her 'pre-engaged' stage a "purgatory." "You're not a wife or a fiancee," Becker told host Alicia Menendez, "but you're a little more than a girlfriend. So you're in a very odd state."
Becker wrote about her situation in a HuffPost Blog earlier this week. She described what it was like after she moved in with her boyfriend and felt as if though nothing had changed:
I had triumphantly placed my mental vote in the ballot box for The One and turned around looking for balloons, champagne and an engagement ring. What I got was nada. It was anticlimactic and a huge blow to the fantasy I had concocted. I thought the clouds would part and the angels would descend with a Vera Wang gown. Reality? Not so much. No one ever tells you how to handle the purgatory between knowing you found The One and saying "I Do."
