'The Vampire Diaries': Elena And Damon Learn That She Is Sired To Him (VIDEO)

After coming together last week on "The Vampire Diaries," Damon and Elena learned separately about Elena being sired to Damon. They also learned more about what exactly that bond meant. Damon remembered a time back in the 1940s when he and Stefan were in New Orleans. There, another vampire became bonded to him, and completely fixated on him. He thought he'd fixed it with a witch's spell, but that turned out to be a trick.

In fact, when the brothers returned to the Big Easy, they found that same vampire, counting bricks -- as Damon had told her to do -- and waiting for his return. Clearly that bond is a hard thing to break. Ultimately, he was told he has to set them free and step completely out of their lives. Of course, he doesn't want to do this to Elena.

What Elena learned, on the other hand, was that a sire bond doesn't create love. Tyler was sired to Klaus and he told Elena that he hated Klaus, but was still compelled to do what he wanted. So while her feelings for Damon might be heightened by the bond, they are genuine.

Which made her absolutely resistant when Damon tried to do the right thing and break things off with him. She didn't care about the bond, because she loved him. And she wasn't going to let him go that easily.
