Cory Booker Running? Newark Mayor Says He's Considering Gubernatorial, Senate Bids

Cory Booker Addresses Election Rumors

"I am absolutely considering running for governor, as well as giving other options some consideration. I'm going to be focused on that for the next week to ten days or so," he told CBS's Face The Nation.

Booker was also rumored to be considering a run for U.S. Senate. He confirmed to CBS he is considering a Senate run as well.

The Newark mayor said he would decide his plans in the next 2 weeks.

"It’s got to be within the next two weeks," he said. "There's a lot of very good candidates for Governor on the Democratic side."

New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney (D) is also considering a bid for Governor or U.S. Senate.

Booker told CNN on Friday that he thinks Christie is " vulnerable to any Democrat."

"Life ultimately is not about position, it's about a purpose," he told CBS on Sunday. "And my purpose that I try to focus on every single day is how can I make a difference in the world around me and the community around me. So I'm really thinking about both offices right now and which one can I better serve on the issues that I'm passionate about."

Booker has been making headlines recently for going a week living off the monetary equivalent of food stamps. The challenge, which began on Tuesday, is meant to raise awareness about raise awareness about hunger and the difficulties of subsisting on food stamps.
