'Catfish: The TV Show': Man Thought Girlfriend Was Blonde Beauty

Jarrod was in his 20s, a father, and looking for love. "Catfish: The TV Show" touched base with him to look into an online relationship he'd been having with Abby, a blonde beauty he'd met online. The two had talked on the phone and online for the past year-and-a-half, but had never met face-to-face, or even video chatted.

When it finally came time for their first actual meeting, Abby was nervous. It was understandable, because Abby wasn't Abby at all, and that picture certainly wasn't her. Abby was actually named Melissa, and she'd hidden behind a fake name and photo to mask her own insecurities.

"It is what it is I suppose. I know I’m not Barbie or anything like that," she said. "I have a lot of explaining to do I suppose."

Jarrod was shocked, but Melissa apologized. She insisted that she'd been herself through all of their chats. She'd just hidden behind that photo because of her lack of self-esteem. The two still talk every day, but are just friends for now. Melissa is hoping something romantic will develop, but only time will tell. At least they're being honest with each other now.
