Mission District UFOs? Mysterious Lights Sighted Over San Francisco (VIDEO)

WATCH: UFOs Over The Mission?

San Francisco's trendy Mission District is home to a lot of things: hipsters, world-famous burritos and now, apparently, UFOs.

Early Sunday morning, a number of neighborhood residents reported seeing unidentified objects flying overhead.

"At first glance, I thought it might be fireworks, but when they started to form a triangular formation, I knew this was uncommon," local Enrique Barrios, who captured a video of the event on his cell phone camera, wrote in an email to neighborhood blog Mission Mission.

While Barrios admitted having attended his fair share of tequila-related holiday celebrations that night, the phenomenon was reported by many others.

CBS San Francisco showed the video to Bing Quock, assistant director of the Morrison Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences, and he was able to rule out a whole host of explanations. "It's not a planet, it's not a constellation, it's not meteors, it's not the moon," he explained before offering his own hypothesis. "It looks to me like it could have been balloons, carrying lights."

Quock's hypothesis just might hold some weight, considering that the illuminated flying objects were seen on the very same day as the first night of Haunkkah--the Jewish festival of lights.

What do you think: is this a case of visitors from another world or just some people having a party?
