The eyes are windows to the soul -- at least, that's what the old adage tells us. One look at the work of photographer Suren Manvelyan, however, and you might start second-guessing that statement.
In the series, "Your Beautiful Eyes," Manvelyan captures the incredible details of the ocular organ through vivid and often startling up-close photographs. The images reveal more than the mere color of someone's irises, showing instead the crater-like textures that lie just below the cornea.
The curious photos look less like the soul-baring eyes we're used to seeing and more like the surface of an unknown planet. Scroll the slideshow of the human version below and let us know what you think of the images in the comments section.
