Julie Chen Disappointed Barbara Walters Declined Invite

Julie Chen was very excited to sit down with David Letterman on "Late Show" and talk about her own show coming to the Big Apple. "The Talk" is taping a week of shows in New York, and Chen said they were able to get a ton of great NYC-based guests.

But one important get eluded them. Chen wanted to be able to sit down with her personal idol, Barbara Walters. But Walters declined the invitation, crushing Chen.

Walters later ran into Chen's husband and explained to him why. Chen's husband told her that Walters said, "I wanted to go, but ABC wouldn’t let me." Neither Letterman or Chen are sure they're buying it, though.

Still, considering the rampant comparisons between "The Talk" and Walter's "The View," it's certainly possible ABC took a hard stance on this. Either way, Chen isn't going to hold it against the broadcast legend. She still calls her "the best."

See Julie Chen every weekday at 2 p.m. EST on "The Talk." "Late Show with David Letterman" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS.
