Lip Serivce: Carlos Frias Talks Nochebuena In "Respect The Pig" (VIDEO)

WATCH: The Tradition Behind This Gruesome Photo

This is the first installment from a new partnership between The Huffington Post and Miami storytelling series, "Lip Service: True Stories, Out Loud," created by Andrea Askowitz and Esther Martinez, and funded by the Knight Foundation.

And it's a good one.

In this clip from Lip Service's live event on December 8, Miami's Carlos Frias talks the Cuban Christmas Eve tradition of Nochebuena and the boyhood lesson of "never look the pig in the eye."

"Out comes a clean and butchered pig in a clear plastic bag," Frias describes picking out a good lechón with his father at the slaughterhouse. "What better to welcome the sweet baby Jesus?"
