"You really are one of those people who I admire for your ability to fully open yourself up to all of your expressions," says Oprah in an upcoming interview on "Oprah's Next Chapter." "But how do you see yourself?"
"It comes in different forms," Jamie says. "If I'm in the studio, I'm completely all music and I try to go to that place. And that's the toughest thing for me."
Jamie confesses that being with other musicians takes him back to his childhood. "I really wanted to just be a musician," he says. "I didn't want to be anything else. But I was funny…"
Jamie also shares that he marvels at recording artists like Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Stevie Wonder when he sees them. "What I have to do is constantly remind myself not to be funny, because that's my natural [state]," he says.
"You are naturally funny," Oprah agrees.
