Glamour Girl Rita Hayworth Tries A Menswear-Inspired Look (PHOTO)

Who Knew Rita Hayworth Wore Pants?

Rita Hayworth set herself apart from other actresses with her ability to transform. Not only did she change her last name from Cansino to Hayworth in order to appeal to an American audience, she reportedly changed her hair color eight times for eight different movies. As a result, Hayworth became a top actress and beauty icon of the 1940s. She even nabbed a prince! But her off-screen persona was very different from the glamazons she played onscreen. She admitted to being "very shy" and said, "Men fell in love with Gilda, but they wake up with me." Her personal style was also a far cry from the wardrobe she wore on set. She was often photographed in slinky gowns and bodysuits but Hayworth preferred to wear slacks, flat shoes and loose blouses.

In this 1944 photo Hayworth wore an outfit that is much more menswear-inspired than anything we've seen the pin-up girl in before. She wears a figure-hugging vest to show off her hourglass figure, but sports a pair of wide-leg pants to flatter her silhouette. She tops off the ensemble with her signature curly locks, pocket watch and pointed shoes. We think Hayworth's look would work wonderfully in the office or at a holiday gathering (you always need a pair of roomy pants). Will you try this 1940s look?
