Nancy Pelosi On Hillary Clinton 2016 Presidential Run: 'I Hope She Goes'

WATCH: Nancy Pelosi Really Wants Hillary Clinton To Run For President

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) expressed enthusiasm for the prospect of a 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential run during an appearance on MSNBC Tuesday.

“Wouldn’t that be exciting!” she said. “I hope she goes -- why wouldn’t she?”

The House minority leader said she was confident Clinton could win the election if she decides to run.

“She could be president of the United States, and she would be great,” Pelosi said. "She would go into the White House as well prepared -- or better prepared -- than almost anybody who has served in that office in a very long time.”

Rumors are swirling about Clinton's possible presidential ambitions as she prepares to retire as secretary of state. For her part, she's said she's not interested.

Clinton is currently riding on a lifetime high favorability rating, according to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll. Two-thirds of Americans approve of her job performance in the Obama administration, and 57 percent of respondents would support her candidacy for president.
