Nirvana Reunion Tour? Dave Grohl's Reps Say Rumors Are 'Nonsense'

The remaining members of Nirvana have teamed up twice in the past week, but don't call it a reunion tour just yet.

Page Six reports that their sources say drummer Dave Grohl is putting together a “Nirvana anniversary tour with a secret frontman," despite also confirming that Grohl's reps called the rumors "nonsense."

Thoughts of a Nirvana reunion heated up when Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear performed together at New York's 12-12-12 Sandy benefit concert. The Nirvana members took the stage with Beatles alum Paul McCartney to perform a new track, "Cut Me Some Slack."

Days later, the remaining Nirvana members joined McCartney again to play "Cut Me Some Slack" on "Saturday Night Live."

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994, at which time Nirvana stopped recording and touring. Cobain's wife, Courtney Love, has been in a legal battle over the years with Grohl and Novoselic over unreleased material from the band and continuing profits. Love has spoken out about the recent reunion and inclusion of Paul McCartney, saying that she is "not amused" by the news.

Planning a reunion tour may prove to be most difficult for Grohl, who currently leads the rock band Foo Fighters. Earlier this month Grohl assured fans that the Foo Fighters will be around for a long time, saying, “People should never be afraid that Foo Fighters are ever going to break up. It’s like your grandparents getting divorced – it’s not gonna happen.”
