The "Scandal" shooting episode was briefly pulled from ABC.com following the tragic events at Sandy Brook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The midseason finale, titled "Blown Away," originally aired on Thursday, December 13 and featured the murder of an entire family. It was originally made available online as part of ABC.com video library, but was pulled.
"Out of respect for those affected by the tragic events in Newtown, Conn., the 'Scandal' winter finale 'Blown Away' has been temporarily taken down online," ABC said in a message on its website. "We know fans are excited to see the episode, and we will update this post the moment we know when it will be available in the ABC.com Full Episode Player and the ABC Player Apps."
The episode has since been restored, with ABC saying, "Since the episode contains a violent scene involving children, we urge fans to use their own discretion before viewing."
Many other networks have been changing programming in the wake of the Newtown shootings. TLC pushed its reality special "Best Funeral Ever" until early 2013, Syfy pulled an episode of "Haven" that featured school violence and Fox rescheduled "Family Guy" and "American Dad" episodes.
"Scandal" returns on Thursday, January 10 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
