A new batch of data has revealed the most popular destinations for end-of-the-year revelry.

Travel search site Kayak says that New York and Las Vegas are still the most popular destinations for New Year's -- but that Orlando takes a surprising third place. Other somewhat surprising destinations to celebrate the end of 2012 include Denver, Fort Lauderdale and Honolulu.

Kayak compiled the numbers by examining searches to a particular destination "out of all the flight searches to all U.S. destinations," a spokeswoman said. New York, for example, accounted for six percent of all searches for New Year's Eve flights in the U.S.

One international destination made the list, too, suggesting that fears of a Mayan Apocalypse on December 21 may be overblown: Cancun is the eighth most popular New Year's spot on Kayak's list.
