Samuel L. Jackson, otherwise known as Nick Fury, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Marvel movie universe, hasn't heard from Joss Whedon about the "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series in the works at ABC. However, that hasn't stopped him from fantasizing about what his role would be.

“In my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in 'Charlie's Angels,'" Jackson told MTV. "At least be the voice."

Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV show will have ties to the "Avengers" movie universe and will star Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. Other cast members (so far) include Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker and Brett Dalton.

"It's new characters. It needs to be its own thing," Whedon said when the project was first announced. "It needs to be adjacent [to the MCU] but you don't want to do a show where you're constantly going, 'Iron Man just left, but he was totally here a minute ago.'"

Whedon is writing the script for the show alongside his brother, Jed, and Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen and is set to direct the pilot.

Should Whedon need any suggestions for casting other Marvel characters, HuffPost TV has assembled the slideshow below.
