Christopher Johnson Enters Virginia Sandy Hook Elementary With 2x4 Labeled 'Rifle' (VIDEO)

A man was arrested on Wednesday after he entered an elementary school in Virginia with a 4-foot-long piece of wood labeled "High-Powered Rifle" in what was allegedly an attempt to prove a point about school security.

Christopher Johnson, 33, walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School, located in Strasburg, Va., carrying a 2x4 inscribed in marker with the words "High-Powered Rifle" at around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Fox 5 D.C. The school has the same name as the elementary school in Newtown, Conn., where 20 children and six adults were killed last week.

Immediately upon entering, Johnson was approached by a Sandy Hook school official and a school resource officer arrived seconds later, CBS 6 WTVR reported.

Officers are not aware if Johnson has a child at the school, according to WTVR.

The Virginia man did not resist arrest and was reportedly attempting to send a message "related to school safety," Maj. Scott Proctor of the Shenandoah Sheriff's Department said, according to ABC 7 WJLA. No weapons were found in the car Johnson drove to the school.

"We don't know his intentions, but it did seem to be related to bringing awareness to school safety," Proctor told Northern Virginia Daily. "That's going to be confirmed through the course of the investigation."

"No one should enter school property and cause disruption or fear or display any kind of behavior that could be interpreted as threatening," he added.

Although no children witnessed what happened, the news left parents of Sandy Hook children on edge, according to WJLA. "Somebody can walk into the school like that and just come in like that," said the mother of a 6-year-old. "They're not safe, and I don't feel safe sending my daughter to the school, I really don't!"

Fox News reports Johnson was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
