Oprah Winfrey Had Shady Style (PHOTO)

Oprah Winfrey was a trendsetter!

Oprah Winfrey is the prime example of the American dream. Born to a young, single mom, growing up in poverty and experiencing abuse as a young child, Oprah overcame the odds to become one of the most successful women in the world. She got her start on a radio station and soon thereafter went on to host "AM Chicago." Eventually, she helmed "The Oprah Winfrey Show," one of the most successful TV programs in history. With guests ranging from Michael Jackson to Tom Cruise, and everyone in between, Ms. Winfrey quickly became America's only African-American billionaire. With decades on the air, Oprah had many opportunities to impress (and disappoint) in the style department -- and trust us, there were many cases of both!

In this 1986 photograph we see Oprah Winfrey attending the rehearsal for the annual Golden Globe awards. She looks impossibly chic (and a little bit like Rachel Zoe) in a pair of oversized sunnies and a silk scarf. We love her short 'do (it screams the 1980s) and her fancy belt that flatters her figure. It looks like this talk show host was ahead of her time.
