DIY Nail Art: Christmas Yule Log Manicure (PHOTO)

Hint: it's got lots of yummy calories.

When it comes to the holidays, my Aunt JoAnn is the official family baker. She starts taking requests for traditional Christmas desserts, including fruitcake, just hours after we've stuffed ourselves silly at Thanksgiving dinner. But I can always expect a cousin or uncle to show up at our family gathering with a store-bought yule log cake.

Polish You Pretty bloggers Danielle and Jenny gave the Christmas chocolate dessert the nail treatment. While brown can be a difficult nail polish color to pull off, they've managed to make it look sweet by incorporating a drip effect. Want to try your hands at this holiday nail art? Scroll down for the step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint on two coats of OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys.
Step 2: Using a large dotting tool, apply three to four polka dots one-third down from the tip of your nail using OPI Alpine Snow.
Step 3: Take a nail art brush (or small eyeliner brush) and connect the dots to create a drip-like pattern as your yummy icing.
Step 4: Place three holly berries in Essie She's Pampered just under the tip of your nail using a small dotting tool.
Step 5: Seal in your nail art design with a top coat.
