What's Closed On New Year's Day?

Government: City, county, federal and state offices, animal shelters, courts and libraries will be closed.

Mail: The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail.

Schools: Schools will be closed.

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles will run on a Sunday schedule. Antelope Valley Transit, Santa Clarita Transit and Ventura County's Gold Coast Transit buses will not run. Metrolink trains will not run except the Antelope Valley line,which will be on a limited holiday service, and the San Bernardino line, which will run on a modified Sunday schedule.

Banks: Banks and financial markets will be closed.

Trash: Trash pickup will be delayed by one day in Los Angeles and Glendale. Trash will be picked up on a regular schedule in Burbank.

Stores: Most grocery stores and malls will be open; some with holiday hours.
