Marine Supply Burglary Suspect Shot By Police In Hialeah (VIDEO)

Police Shoot Man Driving Away From Possible Break-In

A man was shot in Hialeah early Wednesday morning by police who found him fleeing the scene of a crime.

The incident happened near the 1000 block of East 26th Street, where CBS Miami reports police were alerted by a security system to a potential break-in at B and R Marine Supply.

Officers responding to the scene encountered a suspect apparently attempting to leave the scene in a vehicle. But he only made it down the street before authorities opened fire, according to NBC6, causing him to crash into several vehicles before coming to a stop.

"I was sleeping and I heard about eight, nine, 10 shots, maybe more," Hialeah resident Oscar Ramirez told WSVN.

The suspect was transported by helicopter to the trauma unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he remains in police custody.

His condition has not been released.
