'Cake Boss': Was 2,000-Pound Carousel Cake Too Much For Buddy Valastro? (VIDEO)

'Cake Boss': 2,000-lb. Carousel Cake Breaks

It was perhaps the most daunting challenge of Buddy Valastro's career so far. On the latest "Cake Boss," he took on the challenge of creating a replica of the carousel on Atlantic City's Steel Pier. But the sheer size of the cake that was nearly mind-blowing. The final product was 2,000 pounds, 6-ft. wide and 7-ft. tall. Even better, it moved.

On the way to the event, though, disaster struck. Two-and-a-half hours from the bakery, the cake fell over in the truck. Buddy and his team have worked miracles to salvage jobs before, but this one proved simply too much for them to fix on the road.

"I've never been able to not fix something. I had to put my tail between my legs and say, 'There’s nothing I can do,'" Buddy admitted.

He did manage to get simpler sheet cakes to the event in time, and the organizers were very understanding of the mishap, but it was a hard thing for Buddy and his team. He promised an even better cake for the pier at some point in the future. Now that's going to be an episode worth watching!

The "Cake Boss" keeps challenging himself to greater heights every Monday at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
