Ah, the French fry. The classic snack -- perfectly salted and fried to that beautiful golden color -- first appeared in America at a White House dinner when Thomas Jefferson ate "potatoes served in the French manner." And America has been hooked ever since.
The simplicity of deep-fried potatoes sprinkled with salt never seems to grow old. We want them plain, with ketchup, served spicy and alongside our burgers (and sometimes on them). They are grand just as they are. But we found ways to make French fries even better, if you can believe it. We found recipes that make them epic. Truly.
