Joseph Gordon-Levitt has finally landed on his next project. The 31-year-old star will co-headline "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," the highly anticipated sequel to Robert Rodriguez's 2005 film "Sin City." According to Deadline.com, Gordon-Levitt will play a character named Johnny. Rodriguez and co-director Frank Miller (who also wrote the "Sin City" comics) had initially wanted Johnny Depp for the role.

Gordon-Levitt weighed in on the casting via Twitter.

If it feels like Gordon-Levitt casting rumors have become a frequent occurrence, that's because they kind of have. Last November, it was rumored that Gordon-Levitt would play Batman in "Justice League," but his representatives shot that down. On Jan. 2, Deadline.com reported that the "Dark Knight Rises" star was added to the growing short list of candidates to star in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," but it was another rumor that didn't come to fruition. On Monday, it was revealed that Gordon-Levitt received an offer to star in "Godzilla" for Warner Bros., but the actor turned that aside as well.

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" is actually a prequel to "Sin City." The film will feature original stars Clive Own, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis in starring roles.
