Elk Rescued From Swedish Swimming Pool (VIDEO)

WATCH: Elk Swimming Pool Rescue

An elk in Sweden nearly froze after getting stuck in a swimming pool near the city of Linkoping.

Emergency rescue crews needed to use ropes and ladders to pull the elk out from the chilly water, according to the Guardian.

The elk, estimated to weigh around 1,322 pounds, apparently fell in while walking over a metal pool cover that suddenly gave way. It is unknown how long the animal was stuck, according to Linkoping municipal wildlife worker Hans Johansson.

Seven workers were needed to pull the elk from the pool, but once the elk was back on dry land, she didn't stick around to thank her rescuers.

“She was so scared when she finally got out that she just ran away,” Johansson told TheLocal.se. “She still had the emergency rope around her neck, but I'm sure it will be fine."
