Lance Bass, Former 'N Sync Member: I Was Once A Bully

Lance Bass, best known for his time in the boy band 'N Sync, told HuffPost Live Wednesday that during his time in high school in Mississippi he bullied a male cheerleader who other students were accusing of being gay.

Bass, who knew he was gay "since the first memory I had at three years old," said he joined the other students as a way to hide his sexuality and protect himself from bullying.

"I wasn't one of those physical bullies, I never punched a kid, never pushed anyone down, never stole anything from someone. But we have to talk about the bullying of going along with the gay jokes and those type of stuff," Bass told HuffPost Live host Ricky Camilleri. "I was that type of person that would definitely tell that joke, spread it around."

"I was the typical teenager that just wanted to put it off of me and make someone else have that scarlet letter on them," Bass added.

Bass has addressed his bullying in the past, including in a video shot for MTV in response to a rash of suicides by young gay people.
