If the Treasury Department decides to avert a global financial crisis by minting a trillion-dollar platinum coin, one difficult decision will have been made. But another of, perhaps, even greater import will remain: Whose face should be on the coin?

An obvious choice would be Ronald Reagan, who was president when the U.S. debt crossed the trillion-dollar threshold. Yet there are as many ways to design the coin as there are gold bars in Fort Knox, or wherever the feds keep them now.

So we're launching our platinum coin contest: Submit a design for the trillion-dollar coin. We'll post images of all the (family-friendly) ideas and forward our 10 favorites to likely-soon-to-be Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, so he has one less thing to worry about in his new gig.
