To everyone’s surprise, Heidi Montag and husband Spencer Pratt were not the first ones to be voted out of the U.K.'s
"Celebrity Big Brother." But it doesn't make any financial difference to the couple when they get eliminated -- they've already been paid.
“They earned $500,000 from the show, for basically one week's work,” says a U.K. show insider. “Each of the stars on the show have negotiated different rates. With Heidi and Spencer they got two for the price of one; however, it’s still a good deal for very little work. It’s unlikely they will win the whole thing.”
Before the eviction vote, Spencer told Big Brother in the diary room that he believed his U.K. fans would save him despite being nominated by all 10 of their celebrity fellow housemates.
“No one in England had any idea who they were or what they did,” one London agent tells The Huffington Post. “But they are so barmy they have won over the public. The Brits love oddballs; don't forget, Liza Minnelli's ex-husband became a star in the U.K. after going on a reality show!”
Heidi and Spencer became famous after starring on MTV’s monster hit "The Hills." Since then things have not gone so well. They admit they have lost over a million dollars and been bumped out of the reality-TV spotlight by Courtney Stodden and the Honey Boo Boo family. But maybe they have found a new way to capture the public's attention again -- at least, the British public.
