California High School Shooting: What's The NRA's Solution For Taft Union High School? (CARTOON)

CARTOON: Is This The NRA's Next Bright Idea?

shooting at taft high school

For many, the news of yesterday's Taft High School shooting represented just another reason for more serious gun control laws.

In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the incident goes down as yet another example of recent instances of gun violence, aggravating what is sure to be a contentious political debate on weapon control legislation.

Taft Union High School had already adopted the type of preemptive security measures advocated for by the National Rifle Association, by having "two campus supervisors and a uniform deputy sheriff (the school resource officer) monitor the campus before, during and after school." However, officials said the school's armed guard was not present yesterday because he was snowed in.

So what's the gun rights community's new solution? Cartoonist Kevin Eason offered one suggestion. Considering NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre's press conference last month, do you think Eason's guess is that far off?

What do you think? What action should be taken with regards to gun violence? How will the NRA respond to this most recent incident? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
