Monica Cruz is expecting!

Penelope Cruz's lookalike sister is pregnant with her first baby via an anonymous sperm donor. She revealed the joyous news on her blog for the Spanish newspaper El Pais in a post titled "My Life's Dream."

"So I've decided to talk about it: I have resorted to artificial insemination in order to get pregnant," Cruz wrote. "I also wanted to talk about it because it is an opportunity to show my gratitude to all those anonymous donors that help a lot of women, like me, fulfill their lifetime dream. If with this I can help others that are in doubt, here I am for whatever you may need."

Although she would have preferred to wait for her dream partner, Cruz said her decision to use an anonymous sperm donor boiled down to timing. "A 40-year-old woman is very young and she feels very young but the maternity thing goes another way, it is measured with another clock that unfortunately we do not control," wrote Cruz. "I've become very informed on the subject. It turns out that after 37 the possibilities of becoming pregnant decrease at an alarming rate."

The 35-year-old actress and Agent Provocateur model did not reveal how far along her pregnancy is.

Monica, who was previously romantically linked to Spanish actor Alex Gonzalez, began blogging for El Pais in late December. In January, Monica blogged from a gynecologist appointment days before revealing the news that she is expecting a child.

Babies are not new for Monica who is already an aunt to Penelope's 1-year-old son, Leo, with actor Javier Bardem.

Penelope has had only glowing things to say about motherhood. "Becoming a mother makes you rediscover life, your relationship with nature and it gives you the chance to live your childhood again," she told Spanish newspaper La Razon, via the London Evening Standard.
