Hugh Jackman has won Best Actor in the Golden Globes Musical or Comedy category.

Jackman, who plays Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables," defeated Bradley Cooper ("Silver Linings Playbook"), Jack Black ("Bernie"), Bill Murray ("Hyde Park on Hudson") and Ewan McGregor ("Salmon Fishing in the Yemen") for the award.

The Best Actor Golden Globes trophy comes just days after Jackman was also nominated for Best Actor by the Academy Awards. He also received a nomination from the Screen Actors Guild in the same category.

Last year, Jean Dujardin won Best Actor, Musical or Comedy for his performance in "The Artist." Dujardin would go on to win Best Actor at the Academy Awards, defeating George Clooney, who won Best Actor in a drama.
