The Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes is Claire Danes. The "Homeland" actress beat out MIchelle Dockery for "Downton Abbey," Julianna Margulies for "The Good Wife," Connie Britton for her work in "Nashville" and Glenn Close for "Damages."

Danes won the award last year for Season 1 of "Homeland." The Showtime series also scooped prizes for Best Drama and Best Actor for Danes' co-star, Damian Lewis. These were the second consecutive wins for Danes and "Homeland," and the first Golden Globe for Lewis.

"I have to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press for being so insanely generous towards me for so many years now," Danes said on stage. "I wanna thank the other women in this category who are so badass, so brilliant, and have all in their own way contributed to making television this wonderfully rich place for really dynamic, complex, bold female characters."

The 70th annual Golden Globes were hosted by Tina Fey and Amp Poehler at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
