Best Director Golden Globes: Ben Affleck Wins For 'Argo'

Ben Affleck Wins Best Director At Golden Globes

Ben Affleck has won Best Director at the Golden Globes.

Affleck, who directed "Argo," defeated Kathryn Bigelow, Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee and Quentin Tarantino for the award. This is Affleck's first Golden Globe award for directing; he previously won in 1998 for co-writing the script to "Good Will Hunting" with Matt Damon.

In addition to the Golden Globes win, Affleck's film "Argo" was also nominated for an Oscar, though he was left out of the category for Best Director.

Last year, Michel Hazanavicius won Best Director at the Golden Globes for "The Artist." Hazanavicius went on to win the same award at the Academy Awards.
