The 2013 Golden Globes took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles, and true to form, brought out the very best in fashion and style. As it happens, they also brought out the worst in red carpet dresses, from misplaced cutouts to heavy fabric to frocks that don't belong at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Two of our favorite celebrities, Jessica Chastain and Halle Berry, shocked us by landing on our worst-dressed list. Check out those over-the-top looks, as well as more stars who flopped on the Golden Globes red carpet. Let us know if you agree or disagree with us, then head over to our best-dressed gallery to rest your eyes on the style winners.

  • Ariel Winter

The "<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/12/ariel-winter-custody-trial-modern-family-news_n_2283971.html">Modern Family</a>" actress looks overly youthful in an ill-fitting neon, textured gown. A fitted dress to show off her silhouette in a solid color would have been a better choice.

  • Jessica Chastain

The seafoam color is gorgeous on the redheaded "<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/12/weekend-box-office-zero-dark-thirty-texas-chainsaw_n_2463511.html?ir=Entertainment">Zero Dark Thirty</a>" actress, but the cut leaves something to be desired. The baggy halter has us wondering if her tailor forgot to tighten things up, and we are very nervous about the prospect of a major nipslip.

  • Nene Leakes

We like the idea of this look, but the execution is a fail. The volume of the shirt and skirt are too much, and the belt is distracting. The "<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/07/nene-leakes-husband_n_2426357.html">Real Housewives of Atlanta</a>" has us wondering if anyone is hiding under that skirt.

  • Halle Berry

It's rare that this <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/14/halle-berry-pictures-photos-hair_n_1769179.html">Oscar-winner takes a style misstep</a>. We've said it before, and we will say it again: A print on the red carpet is a dangerous thing. Add major cutouts, and the dress looks like it should be worn over a bikini to the beach.

  • Emily Blunt

The <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/10/emily-blunt-backwards-jacket_n_1415979.html">gorgeous actress </a>took a wrong turn in this pea-green dress. The hue does nothing for her skin tone, and the lace reminds us of an old bedspread.

  • Lena Dunham

We love the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/11/lena-dunham-howard-stern-video_n_2453422.html">"Girls" director and actress</a>, but this gown isn't doing her any favors. She is too young to be wearing such a dark, heavy dress that appears to be slowly dragging her down.

  • Giuliana Rancic

The detail at the bust reminds us of something that belongs on a national flag, and the high neckline looks like a fancy neck brace.

  • Helena Bonham Carter

The messy hair and dazed expression on her face are one thing, but her quirky purse is the strangest accompaniment we've seen on the red carpet tonight.

  • Julie Bowen

The "Modern Family" <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/10/julie-bowen-dress-la-gala-2012-photos_n_1953826.html">actress</a> suffered from a case of bad fit and excess fabric. The one-shouldered detail plus the gathering at the waist looks wrinkled, and the effect is sloppy. There also appears to be a pull in the front of her dress. Better luck next time, Julie.

  • Lucy Liu

That is a whole lotta dress. A dress with this much presence should be one solid color, or else it becomes overwhelming as is the case here.

  • Kelly Osbourne

The <a href="http://www.fabsugar.com/How-Wear-Mint-Green-22831384">mint green shade of the gown is a little off</a>, and the pleating at the bottom is extreme to the point that we are wondering if it's detachable.

  • Sienna Miller

We appreciate the nod to Twiggy-era fashion, but this dress fell flat. Well, actually, the appliqués are fluttering in the wind, further reminding us that it's always best to keep it simple on the red carpet.
