Future Oscars host Seth MacFarlane is already taking on water from critics who were not pleased with his performance during the Academy Awards nominations on Jan. 10. "Is Seth MacFarlane Already a Terrible Oscar Host?" wrote Slate.com, while Vulture cited his stilted banter with Emma Stone during the nominations as proof that people should begin getting worried about MacFarlane's upcoming performance.

Which is what makes the job Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did as hosts of the Golden Globes so much more significant. By most accounts, the duo were expert emcees, guiding one of the best awards shows in recent history. Does that put MacFarlane further behind the 8-ball?

If so, MacFarlane wasn't showing any signs of worry during the Golden Globes telecast. The "Ted" director sporadically live-tweeted the event, making jokes about Jeremy Irons, Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon and Tommy Lee Jones.

After the broadcast, MacFarlane was asked by Deadline.com what he thought of Fey and Poehler. "Please give Tina and Amy high marks because they did great,” MacFarlane said. He then added, “It doesn’t matter how I do, Oscar hosts always get thrashed."

MacFarlane takes the stage to host the 85th annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24.
