Former Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) dismissed the idea that he would run for his old seat in 2014, saying he's "focused on something far greater."

"If all you want to know is if I am running for Congressional district 18, the answer is no," West told the Palm Beach Post in a text message. "My sights and objectives, political and otherwise, are focused on something far greater."

West insisted "the conversation should not be about me," worrying more about "our children and grandchildren."

"Shall we be the first generation to fail to ensure the American dream for future generations?" West's text said.

While his political aspirations may be a mystery, West did announce he would be hosting a new internet TV show. The former congressman told Fox News Tuesday night he would be joining PJ Media as the host of "Next Generation Today," a show that launches in February.

"We're going to look at the news, the current news, through the lens of young Americans, and we're going to start to stand up for that next generation," West said.
