Kerri Dalton Attacked In N.J. Bed Bath & Beyond; Tyrik Haynes, Alleged Cat Torturer, Accused Of Attempted Murder

Young Mom Stabbed In Store Allegedly By Cat Torturer

The man who'd allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old mother 20 times while she shopped with her baby was previously accused of setting a cat on fire.

Kerri Dalton was in stable condition on Friday from the attack inside a Bed Bath & Beyond in New Jersey. Her alleged attacker, Tyrik Haynes, allegedly used matches and aerosol to light a cat he'd bought online, CBS said.

Both of Dalton's lungs were punctured as she looked for new curtains in what Monmouth County officials described as a random attack, WCBS reported. Her baby was unhurt.

"She's holding up, she's strong, she's a fighter, she's my best friend," her husband, Roger Dalton, said on the station. "I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."

The cat, which Haynes allegedly purchased online, died on Christmas Eve in the woods.

Haynes is charged with animal cruelty in the first case and now stands accused of attempted murder, the Asbury Park Press reported.

In April, Haynes turns 19, the N.J. paper reports. He is being held on $1 million bond for allegedly knifing Dalton.
