WASHINGTON -- Grammy winners, Emmy winners, everyone's favorite "Science Guy" and teen heart-throbs all took back seats to the coolest guy in town. Vice President Joe Biden paid an unexpected visit to the Newseum on Sunday night for the 2013 Green Inaugural Ball.

Eight levels of the downtown D.C. museum featured live music from will.i.am, Sheila E, Mayor Hawthorne, "The Voice's" Nicholas David, Trombone Shorty and Camp Freddy, a supergroup made up of members of Guns N Roses, Jane's Addiction, Sugar Ray and more. Politicians in attendance included Senators Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) and Al Franken (D-Minn.), Representative Jared Polis (D-Colo.) and former Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio).

Between performances, speakers ranging from EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, "Damages" actor Tate Donovan and "Breaking Bad's" Giancarlo Esposito talked to the crowd about environmental, conservation and clean-tech issues. Bill Nye "The Science Guy" garnered the second most applause of the evening, only behind Biden, who promised that the administration would continue to work on green issues.
