Russell Westbrook Blocks Denver Nuggets Mascot's Half-Court Shots (VIDEO)

Russell Westbrook Denies Denver Mascot

If the Thunder end up playing the Nuggets in the playoffs, Russell Westbrook vs. Rocky might be among the most highly anticipated matchups.

Oklahoma City's All-Star point guard made a new enemy on Sunday night in Denver, but not with any of the Nuggets players of coaches. Instead, Westbrook picked a fight with Denver's mascot "Rocky."

During a break late in the fourth quarter, the mascot went to attempt a backwards shot from half court. But, for some unknown reason, Westbrook moved underneath the basket and committed goaltending. Rocky pointed at Westbrook from across the court, and then attempted a second shot from long range.

Again, Westbrook blocked it.

As the double-denial drew boos from the Denver crowd, Westbrook gave them more to be upset about. Down 105-96, he scored four straight points after blocking Rocky and rallied the Thunder back, hitting a 3-pointer in the final minute to force overtime. But Denver would deny Oklahoma City's comeback attempt in the extra session, holding on for a 121-118 win.

"Russell made a lot of friends here," Nuggets coach George Karl said after the game, via The Denver Post. "He’s a feisty guy who likes to create intensity. I like intensity. I’m sure the next time we’ll have some locker room talk."
