Boulder police are investigating a report that a man in a newer model silver BMW sedan on Monday evening repeatedly tried to lure a teenage girl into the car as she was walking near Broadway and Spruce Street.
The incident occurred at 5:17 p.m. Monday.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his late 40s, with dark skin and eyes, and thick eyebrows, and wearing a dark green, long sleeve shirt, was reportedly following the teen in his car as she walked along Broadway. The teen told police that the man stopped the vehicle, described as a BMW 5-series, four-door sedan, in the middle of the street and called to her and motioned for her to get into the car.
The suspect, who spoke both English and Spanish, told the girl that he would give her a ride. When she ignored him, he drove down a nearby street, turned around and again tried to talk her into getting into the car, according to a city news release.
The suspect only left the area when the victim went into a nearby business to ask for help. The business owner confirmed seeing the BMW, but did not see a license plate number.
While this is the first time the victim has reported it to police, it is believed that the same suspect has approached her in the past.
She told police that she believes the same man tried to talk her into getting into his car near Viele Lake four weeks ago, and also honked at her and tried to entice her into his vehicle three weeks ago when he saw her near Broadway and Alpine Avenue.

Boulder police remind all community members to call 911 immediately if they see anything or anyone that appears suspicious, but in light of this report, the department is highlighting the following safety tips:
Walk in groups and in well-lit areas.
Make sure children know never to get into a car with a stranger.
If a stranger approaches, children should know to run away and yell for help.
If a stranger tries to take a child, the child should yell, "Help! This isn't my mom," or "This isn't my dad," and do whatever it takes to get away. Bite, kick and scratch if necessary. ___
