Chicago Pets For Adoption (1/25) (PHOTOS)

It is cold out there, Chicago -- and just as the cold can be deadly for some of the city's most vulnerable human residents, the bitter weather can also prove treacherous for animals left abandoned in the streets.

Many of the pets currently available for adoption from a number of Chicago-area shelters, too, were on the streets. And far too many of them have been waiting for many, many months with the hope of one time having a forever home to call their own.
