Paul Pierce Learns Rajon Rondo Tore ACL During Interview, Is Not Pleased (VIDEO)

WATCH: Pierce's Reaction To Rondo Injury

Unlike those who were watching the Celtics-Heat broadcast on Sunday or were following the action on social media, Paul Pierce didn't learn about teammate Rajon Rondo's season-ending knee injury until after the final buzzer.

Following Boston's 2OT win, ESPN's Doris Burke caught up with Pierce. She began her postgame interview by telling Pierce, who made the game-winning shot, about Rondo's torn ACL. Pierce was understandably shocked, considering Rondo participated in a walk-through earlier in the day and wasn't taken out of the lineup until shortly before the game started.

"We just got to rally around each other. I feel for him. He was having such a great season, making the All-Star team. It's disappointing news," he said.

After the extent of Rondo's injury was first reportd, many were ready to declare the Celtics' season over. Boston head coach Doc Rivers, however, wasn't ready to do that.
