Rupert Murdoch Tweets Piers Morgan Support

Oh, Rupert

News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch tweeted a message of support to CNN's Piers Morgan on Saturday.

Following the horrific mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Morgan spent considerable time arguing for gun control. He clashed with gun advocate Alex Jones in a fiery segment, and devoted many on air minutes to the issue. Morgan's activism was not entirely well-received, as critics started a White House petition to deport him.

Murdoch, who was Morgan's boss while he was an editor at the now-defunct News of the World in the mid-'90s, tweeted his support.

Though Murdoch's Fox News executives have reportedly made conscious decisions to the contrary, the News Corp. chief showed his support for gun control following the mass shootings in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this post indicated that Morgan worked for Murdoch while he was an editor at Daily Mirror.
